One of the primary qualities for a good sexual experience is paying attention to your experience: your body, your thoughts, your emotions. I call it as embodiment.
Embodiment is the ability to feel and understand the experience of the body, as it is happening. Embodiment is not just being aware OF the body as an object – but rather being aware with “WHAT’S HAPPENING” in the body.
Embodiment comes from mindfulness
This quiz is a tool designed to help you understand how mindful and embodied you are in your intimate and personal relationships. Most of the people rush through sex and treat it as a set of activities to be done, but that’s just scratching the surface. The deeper you go in your physical, emotional, mental, sexual experience, the more satisfaction and fulfilment you will get from sex.
This mindfulness and intimacy quiz is based on the 5 Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (developed originally by Ruth Baer at University of Kentucky) to represent elements of mindfulness. I have modified some of the questions from the original questionnaire and added in new questions to make it specifically relevant to mindfulness and sexual intimacy. This is not about right and wrong answers. It’s a tool to help you see how mindful you are during sex and intimacy. The questions cover following essential qualities of a good sexual experience:
- observation
- describing
- acting with awareness
- nonjudgment and
- non reaction
