Imagine you are a 13 year old kid. One day you discovered a sweet which was discreetly hidden away from your knowledge. You found it but then you realise no one in your family spoke about that sweet. In fact every one pretends that sweet does not exist at all. Through some murmurs and curiosity led checking, you found out that many people have this sweet but do it in shame and silence. You also found out that if you tell anyone that you have this sweet, you will be judged, labelled, shamed. The sweet must be had in dark, door closed, making minimum noise, and finish as fast as possible.
How would you feel? If you’re anything like me—or anything like most 13-year-olds— you will become confused, scared, or too much interested as a rebel, but definitely not any healthy approach to the sweet.
Now replace the term “sweet” with “sex”
The truth is no one gave us permission to see sex and sexuality as a healthy matter and that had an impact on our sexual development and our sexual relationship.
Today let’s free us from all this baggage.
